When I drag the game window off of the external display down on to the real laptop screen, it runs fine at a normal frame rate. Plug the DisplayLink dock it into the USB port on any of those three laptops, it works, I get working dual external displays for all three computers.īut there's a problem doing it that way, on the Mac only: When I run games, they give an error saying "OpenGL software mode not supported" and run super slow (1 fps) when the game window is on one of the external monitors running through the DisplayLink USB driver. Most of the time I just use my DisplayLink USB dock, and that's fine and work with the DisplayLink USB drivers in all three cases. I have a situation where I have to swap three different computers into my workflow at different times: The Mac, my Windows laptop, and the Windows laptop from work.

Supplementing DeltaMac's advice, I recommend resetting your display's settings (preferably) or unplugging your display for at least 30 seconds (at a minimum) once a reset has been performed, then connect your Mini and check your Display Pref Pane settings.I'm deliberately doing a weird connection from my 15" Macbook Pro (recent touch bar model) to my dual external monitors on my desktop. Switching a display's video source pretty much offers a similar situation to connecting your new/used Mini - it's a different source, and your Mini is also likely "used" to a different connected display. Most of the displays that are used in my house and offices are used with the same PCs and Macs every day.

My offices house Eizo/Dell/BenQ displays with both PCs and Macs, and each configuration needs a bit of attention from time to time. I am not addressing that your Mini could have hardware problems. One more alternative option to DeltaMac's excellent advice, coming from a user of two Dell displays - one of which is "shared" between a rMBP via mDP>DP and a 2012 Mini Server via HDMI I also own a small business with several Mini Servers connected similarly.
